Saw Chris Matthews on the Late Late show with Craig Ferguson, and his comments about Palin and Biden reminded me of why I stopped watching him long ago. Quick to jump on the "Palin is a simpleton" bandwagon, Matthews proved his own ignorance (as did Biden). But most Americans will believe what Chris said - even though it was Biden who stood in front of America and pretended to be wise while telling us that "The idea he (Cheney) doesn't realize that Article I of the Constitution defines the role of the vice president of the United States, that's the Executive Branch. He works in the Executive Branch. He should understand that. Everyone should understand that." Actually Article II covers the Executive Branch. The vice president is the president of the Senate, where he/she interprets the rules and can only be overridden by a vote of 60 senators. Wow! That Constitution is bizarre and dangerous!

"Early vice presidents spent a lot of time in the Senate. Thomas Jefferson even spent his time writing 'A Manual of Parliamentary Practice: for the Use of the Senate of the United States.' Modern vice presidents may show up only when they think tie votes will occur, but that is their choice."
Matthews also went on to completely misquote and mischaracterize what Palin said - that the VP could "control" the Senate, and went on to ridicule her by saying maybe she should check out the job requirements before signing up, or something to that effect. Followed by laughter. Good for you Chris - for helping out with the disinformation campaign. That's what good journalists do, right? Or is he just a comedian now?
Meanwhile Biden, whose answer was factually incorrect, (factually from a different planet) comes off as the hero, the guy whose answer was far less informed than Palin's. Biden also was able to mix in a few terms for Cheney such as dangerous and bizarre. What will really be bizarre is to have Biden as a VP who clearly "doesn't get it"(a favorite line of Democrats this campaign season when talking down to others), and to have Matthews continuing on to pretend to be a journalist.
