Ice is not a brand new phenomenon, e.g. ever hear of the Age named after it? But in Portland, apparently it is something of a first as demonstrated by these bad drivers. Although I must confess that in Iowa I did slide into a car on an icy hill, but in my defense the car appeared to me as nothing more than a giant mound of snow... looked safe but there was a CAR hiding under there. It was also 3 a.m. after playing a New Year's gig, as if that's relevant.
